What Are Eyelash Extensions?

What Are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic fibres that are applied to each of your individual natural eyelashes (one extension per natural eyelash), in order to make your lashes look fuller and longer. Unlike temporary, false eyelashes, where the strip is applied to the eyelid, lash extensions are attached directly to the lash itself, one at a time, and the process can take several hours to complete.

Eyelash Extensions Vs False Lashes

Now, we may be bias, but there are a number of reasons why we recommend using false strip lashes over individual extensions:

The Price

While the cost of eyelash extensions varies from salon to salon (and the area that you’re in), a full set of lash extensions can set you back anywhere from £35-£100+ , with refills costing around £40-55. To ensure the lashes are kept looking full, it is recommended that lash infills are carried out every 2-4 weeks. So, as you can gather, eyelash extensions aren’t cheap.

You can pick up a pack of false strip lashes anywhere from £5-£15. Our luxury lashes can be purchased for £10 per pack, and with the right care, can be reused safely up to 15 times. Learn how to properly clean your false lashes and tips for making them last longer in our blog

Uneven Fallout

With eyelash extensions, it's common to experience uneven fallout. This is because your lashes are always at all different stages of growth, meaning that some lashes are in a stage of growth, while others are getting ready to shed. Because of this, you may find that some extensions will fall out after a few weeks as lashes shed and are replaced with new, extension-free eyelashes, while others will remain untouched. This can create an unbalanced, scattered effect if you don’t get your extensions refilled every 2-4 weeks. This brings us onto our next point…

Maintenance

As mentioned above, refills are necessary every 2-4 weeks to maintain the best result.

what are eyelash extensions
For most people with busy schedules, regular maintenance sessions can be a bit of a nuisance, and not to mention very expensive.

General maintenance is typically much easier with false lashes than it is with extensions. False lashes are easily removable and generally good at keeping their shape and quality during the wear. Lash extensions, however, require you to stay away from oil cleansers and water (if possible). These can damage the lash extensions and well, it's money down the drain if that occurs. You would also need to purchase lash-friendly mascara if you still prefer to have on mascara.

Lash Extensions Tend To Be Lighter Than False Lashes

It all depends on the type of lash extensions and false lashes you use but generally speaking, lash extensions are lighter than false lashes. If the look you're going for is not natural or subtle then strips are much better.

You Can Change The Style Of False Lashes Depending On The Occasion

One of the great benefits of opting for false lashes over extensions is that you can pick and choose the style, depending on your occasion.
