False eyelashes can sometimes become bent, and it can be very tempting to just throw them away. But they can in fact be easily fixed in just a few simple steps, saving you time and money buying a new pair.
This is how to fix bent false eyelashes:
- Pull the bent lashes into their original direction
- Lay the straightened eyelash on a flat surface
- Dab a hot damp cloth over the eyelash
- Mould the eyelash to its original shape
1.Pull the bent lashes into their original direction
Hold the base of your false eyelashes with one hand and pull the bent lashes into their original direction with the other, using tweezers or eyelash applicators.
2. Lay the straightened eyelash on a flat surface
Lay the straightened eyelash on a flat surface with the adhesive side facing the ceiling.
3. Dab a hot damp cloth over the eyelash
Next, run a cloth under hot water and ring it out. Lightly press the damp hot cloth over the whole eyelash to act as an ‘iron’, removing the kink and setting the eyelash straight.
4. Mould the eyelash to its original shape
Once the eyelash is straight, it is time to mould it back to its original shape. You can do this in a number of ways. One way is simply holding the eyelash in both hands and gently moulding it to its natural curved shape.
Another way (and probably the most effective way) you can mould the false eyelash to its original shape is to apply hair gel from the band to tip and wrap the eyelash vertically around a tube of mascara or lipstick, so that the lash is wrapped to create a curl. Roll some tissue around the lashes to secure in place and run your hair dryer over them for a few minutes to help set the hair gel and mould the curl back into the lashes.
Remember, you must be very gentle when working to fix false eyelashes, as they are very fragile and individual eyelashes flake off easily.
How To Prevent Your False Eyelashes Getting Bent
Store Safely After Use
When your lashes are not in use, safely store them in their original packaging and ensure they’re kept in their original position to help maintain natural shape and prevent them getting bent.
We also recommend taking your false eyelash original packaging case in your bag when going out in case you need or want to remove your eyelashes while you’re out (e.g. on a night out).
Throwing your lashes into your bag with no protection will most likely result in them getting bent or lost.
Avoid sleeping In Them
As well as storing your false eyelashes safely when not in use, avoid sleeping in them to prevent them getting bent. When you sleep at untoward angles, you apply undue pressure on your false eyelashes when you press against them with the pillow or your arms. This will force your lashes inward, making them bent.
Make sure you spend a bit of time removing your false eyelashes before you get into bed.
