How To Do A Patch Test For Eyelash Glue

How To Do A Patch Test For Eyelash Glue

One of the best ways to carry out a patch test for eyelash glue is to apply a small amount of glue behind your ear using a cotton bud and leave it on for 24hours. If you don’t see a reaction, you should be fine to apply your false lashes using the glue you have tested.

Another way you can do a patch test for eyelash glue is to apply a tiny amount of glue to the outer corner of your eye along your natural lash line. Again, leave this on for 24 hours and if you don’t have a reaction, you should be fine to apply your false eyelashes using the glue you have tested.

To remove the adhesive from your skin once you have completed your patch test and no reaction has occurred, soak a cotton pad in coconut or baby oil and gently rub the area. The oil will break up the adhesive, and remove it from your skin.

Why Are Patch Tests Important?

Whether you’re using strip lashes or individual lashes, it is highly recommended that you carry out a patch test on a small area before applying the full adhesive product to your eyelids.

A patch test is a really quick and simple process to carry out at home and can prevent many problems from occurring whether that be mild irritation or a severe allergic reaction. Like they always say ‘it's better to be safe than sorry’.

Eyelash Glue Allergies

Symptoms of a positive glue allergy can vary from a small skin rash with a little swelling to red, blistered skin. If any irritation like this occurs within the 24 hours, rinse the area thoroughly with cold water for a few minutes to fully remove the product. If irritation persists, please seek medical attention and keep the product for reference for medical advice.

It is very important that you check the full ingredients on the packaging for any adhesive product you are going to use, particularly if you have any known allergies or sensitivities. If you have a known allergy to an ingredient listed in any adhesive product, do not use it.
