Before we get into it, let's make sure we fully understand what individual lashes are.
What are Individual Lashes?
Individual lashes, also known as ‘cluster’ lashes, are a type of false lash that consist of small clusters of individual lashes that are applied directly to your natural lashes. Just like strip lashes, they are available in various lengths, thicknesses, and styles, allowing you to enhance your lash look to your desired effect.
The Difference Between Strip Lashes and Individual Lashes
Now we know the basic difference between the two, we can compare them in more detail. Below we look at the differences in the application process, the comfort and overall style.
The Application Process
Firstly, the application process differs slightly. Individual stick-on lashes require more precision, skill and time to apply than strip lashes, as you need to place each individual cluster of lashes onto your natural lashes, using tweezers and a super steady hand. Strip lashes are much easier and quicker to apply, as you simply need to place the strip along your lash line and you’re done.
To perfectly apply strip lashes, apply your chosen lash glue to the outer seam of the eyelash strip with an applicator or small brush and let the glue dry for a minute. Then, place the strip on your eyelid using an ergonomic applicator, positioning it as close as possible to your natural lashes. And you’re done! Remember: try not to apply the lash too close to the inner corner of the eye. Once you've mastered the technique, you'll be able to put on a perfect set of strip lashes in a matter of minutes. Perfect if you’re in a rush or limited on time getting ready.
To apply individual stick on lashes, take a small amount of lash adhesive onto a clean surface and dip the end of the individual lash cluster into the adhesive, ensuring that the entire base of the cluster is coated. Using a pair of tweezers, place the lash cluster onto your natural lash line, starting from the outer corner of your eye and working inwards. Place the cluster as close to the root of your natural lashes as possible without touching your eyelid. Continue placing the individual clusters along your lash line, spacing them out evenly and avoiding placing too many clusters in one area.
Comfort
If applied correctly, neither individual stick on lashes or strip lashes should cause any discomfort.
However, if you’re not used to wearing strip lashes, they can sometimes feel heavy on the eyes and require some time getting used to.
