As we wave goodbye to the Easter holidays, it’s only a matter of time before summer is here, bringing with it hot, humid weather. You might not know this but the heat and UV rays can actually damage your false lashes and melt adhesive, causing them to slide out of place. Doesn’t sound good does it, sis?
Fortunately for you, we’ve come up with a number of ways you can summer-proof your falsies and keep them looking and feeling fresh all year round.
Here are 5 top tips for wearing false eyelashes in hot weather:
1. Choose the Best Lashes for You
The first step to summer-proofing your falsies is choosing the right type of lashes to begin with. We recommend opting for lightweight lashes that won’t feel heavy in the heat or weigh down your eyelids.
If you plan on spending a lot of time in and around water, whether it be at pool parties, beach trips, water activities or outdoor events, then waterproof lashes are a must. These lashes are made with special waterproof adhesive that won't dissolve or come off when exposed to water, sweat, or humidity - ideal for the summer!
Here are some of the best styles of strip lashes for the warmer, summer months:
Natural Lashes
Natural false eyelashes are a type of false lashes that are designed to look like “your lashes but better” and a great choice for the hot weather. This is because they are typically lightweight, easy to wear and add just the right amount of natural volume and length without feeling too heavy. Discover the best natural false lashes here, including our brave, thrive & success lashes.
Brave False Lashes
Our delicate Brave super natural false eyelashes will give a weightless natural lift to your eyes making you appear more awake and bright-eyed. If you’re looking for the ‘home-grown’ au natural look to start your lash journey, these are a great option.
Ps. our ultra-soft lashes are made from cruelty-free, synthetic fibres to give you a comfortable lash wearing experience.
Wispy Lashes
With a fluttery, feathery appearance, wispy lashes are a great option for the hot summer months because they’re light and airy, giving your eyes a natural yet voluminous look.
Wispy lashes can be made from synthetic materials or natural hair, and they come in a variety of lengths and styles to suit different eye shapes and personal preferences.
These types of lashes are perfect for daytime events or for those who prefer a more natural makeup look without being too heavy.
Feathered Lashes
Another style of false lashes great for the warmer months are feathered lashes. Similar to wispy lashes, this type is designed to have a light feathery appearance. However, unlike wispy strip lashes, feathered lashes are made with individual clusters of lashes that have a more random placement, giving them a more fluttery look. They are often longer and more dramatic than wispy strip lashes, making them a popular choice for special occasions or evening events, without feeling too heavy on the eyes.
2. Keep Your Lashes Clean
One of the best things you can do to keep your lashes in tip top shape in the hot weather is to keep them clean. Sweat, oil, and dirt can build up on your lashes, especially in the summer, making them look clumpy and feel heavy. To avoid this, make sure to clean your lashes after every use with a gentle eye makeup remover and water to keep them looking fresh and fluttery.
Once your lashes have been cleaned and have dried, always place them in their original packaging and keep them in their original position to help maintain shape.

3. Use Waterproof Glue & Mascara (If Necessary)
Another way to heat-proof your falsies this summer is to use waterproof glue. Although we strongly advise that you stay away from water while wearing lashes, waterproof glue will help your lashes stay in place if you do find yourself at the beach or pool.
Likewise, if topping up your falsies with mascara for extra length, go for the waterproof option. Normal mascara is likely to run or smudge if it comes into contact with liquid or heat, so save yourself the panda eyes (not cute!) and get yourself down the waterproof aisle.
4. Avoid Oily Face Products
When it's hot outside, your skin produces more oil, which can cause your false lashes to melt and slide around on your eyelid. This can be made even worse if you use oily products like heavy moisturisers, makeup removers around your eyes or face serums, so avoid using these in the hot weather. It goes without saying that you should wear your SPF, but opt for a light/oil free option if you can.
5. Keep Away From Direct Sunlight
Last but not least, staying away from direct sunlight will do your falsies the world of good. This is because prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause the lash band to become brittle and the lash hairs to lose their shape and colour. This is particularly true for synthetic lashes, which are made from materials such as plastic fibres, as they are more susceptible to heat and UV damage.
